French “no” campaign
Ten Gaullists and members of the French UMP party have created a “Group for a confederation of the states of Europe” to say no to the EU Constitution. Among the founders of the group are former ministers Jean Charbonnel, Gabriel Kaspereit, Christian de Le Malène, Jean Matteoli and Roland Nungesser, and UMP MP Nicolas Dupont-Aignan. A communiqué said, “The group’s objective is to bring together personalities and politicians from all horizons to lead the ‘no’ to a federal Europe campaign and promote a new organisation for Europe”.
