Attac France rejects EU Constitution
French anti-globalisation group Attac has decided to campaign against the European Constitution after holding an internal vote on the issue. The no vote in the internal referendum was overwhelming, with 84 percent of people voting against the Constitution. They said that they would work with, associations, trade unions and democratic political parties who are willing to contribute themselves to a no victory.
Attac will lead an autonomous "no" campaign, and has already organised two events for next year: on 19 March - rally with Attac groups from around Europe in Brussels to "demand a social Europe". 30 April - big international rally in Paris on double theme "The Europe wanted by Europeans", and "The Europe the rest of the world expects", with delegations from other continents. Attac will work alongside associations, trade unions and demorcratic politicakl parties to campaign against the constitution.
