Hungarian Parliament ratifies EU constitution
Hungary became the second country to ratify the European Union's constitution after gaining the support of its parliament.
In total, 304 deputies out of 385 seats - voted in favour of ratification with nine against. There were eight abstentions; the rest were absent.
Hungary became a EU member on May 1 of this year. This was part of an expansion that included 10 nations, eight of which were former communist states of central and Eastern Europe.
