Spanish government begins propaganda blitz

The Independent reports that the Spanish government is beginning its campaign for the EU Constitution ahead of the referendum on 20 February. The Constitution will be handed out to every spectator at the Madrid football derby this weekend, where the half-time entertainment will be devoted to a celebration of the text. Five million of copies of the Constitution will also be sent out with this Sundays papers and the government has hired celebrities to read excerpts from the text in daily TV broadcasts. Spanish no campaigners are calling on the government to shut down a website which provides biased information on the Constitution.
