Danish referendum could take place before end of the year.
Le Monde reports that the Danish referendum on the EU Constitution could take place before the end of the year. It says this could happen if the Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen is re-elected this month, and if the electorate accepts the change of tack of the Socialist People's party, which has traditionally been hostile to Europe but which voted in favour of the EU Constitution in an internal vote in December. An expert in European affairs at the confederation of industry, Lykke Friis is quoted saying, "It is no longer sure at all that we will wait for the Brits to vote on the treaty before we do it ourselves".
