Danish No campaign launched

About 150 people attended the launch of the Danish campaign against the EU Constitution last Sunday, 10 April in Copenhagen. Currently twelve Danish networks and organisations participate in the citizens’ initiative “Ja til Europa - Nej til EU-forfatningen ” (Yes to Europe - No to the EU Constitution).The campaigning network is organised by 'no' representatives from across the political spectrum who want to multiply their forces by cooperation.

Among the speakers were representatives from the Social Democrats, Conservatives, Christian Democrats, the “Radikale Venstre” (Denmarks Social Liberal Party), the Socialist Peoples Party, Trade Unions, the June Movement and the People’s Movement. As foreign guests the British Labour MP Ian Davidson and Thomas Rupp, coordinator of the ENC, were invited.

The no campaign plans to reach the Danish public during the next 6 months and is campaigning for a fair referendum on 27 September 2005.
