New German Government still in favour of constitution
After the ceaseless proceedings a new german government is formed. Concerning the question of having a EU constitution there's no great change. Unsurprisingly the new government is still in favour of the constitution. Angela Merkel, Germany's first female Bundeskanzler states one day after her election in Brussels that she wants the constitution to be passed. In her opinion the constitution is indispensable.
Germany wants to revive the treaty under its presidency in 2007. Merkel promised that in a meeting with Tony Blair. Elmar Brok, german MEP argues that the ratification process will continue and that he doesn't want new referenda in the 14 countries which already ratified the constitution.
