Ian Davidson (b. 1950) is married and has two children. He has been educated at University of Edinburgh and Jordanhill College, Glasgow. Before entering Parliament he was a Manager with Community Service Volunteers. He is MP for Glasgow Pollok since 1997. He is a member of the Common’s Public Accounts Committee and is active in the Trade Union Group of Labour MPs.
He has written extensively on the EU for labour movement publications, and is the Chair of Labour Against The Superstate. Ian is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for a Social Europe.
He Contributes to local activity and Greater Pollok Partnership. In addition, he is part of a lobby aiming to keep shipbuilding in Scotland.
Main leisure pursuits include distance running, swimming and rugby. Possibly the only Scot to score a hat trick of tries in representative games against both New Zealand and South Africa.
